Full-length bamboo matcha whisk
An indispensable matcha whisking device, suitable for both usucha and koicha preparation
A masterpiece of artisan craftsmanship distilled into a handheld device, our Full-Hand Chasen is delicately handcrafted from a single piece of winter-hardened bamboo using a highly-acclaimed technique known as “fingertip art” now practiced by only a selected few guilds of artisans. The length of our Full-Hand Chasen is optimised for comfortable grip, and number of prongs carefully chosen by our matcha sommeliers to allow for both usucha and koicha methods of preparation. Perfect as an accompaniment to our Cloud Glass Chawan.

Remove the stand from the bamboo whisk during use. After each use, rinse with cold water and dry in a well-ventilated area on top of the accompanying stand. With use, the twisted centre and outer tips of the whisk will gradually unfurl; this is a natural process traditionally known as 'blooming'.

The longer handle of this chasen makes it easier to whisk matcha, but the prongs are not durable. Even with proper usage and care (blooming the whisk before use, no scraping the whisk against my chawan, no contact with sweeteners or milk, rinsed after each use and stored on its stand), the prongs have begun to noticeably fray after less than 5 uses, and one prong has chipped off at the bottom. I have been whisking matcha for several months now and my other chasens have not had this issue.
The item took 15 days to arrive. It arrived broken on the handle and deformed on the wisk side. The original package is a very thin and light plastic container whch got deformed and lid broken. It was packed in a paper envelope, with plastic bubles protection, but clearly not enough. It should have been shipped in a box making sure the item was protected during the shipment.
Plus it is very small. Its half of the size of a normal Chasen.
