Glass Katakuchi Serving Bowl
Matcha bowl with pouring spout
Introducing a theatrical element to your modern matcha-brewing experience, this stunning matcha katakuchi (spouted bowl) is meticulously designed for whisking matcha and pouring it into the serving cup, all in one device
A stylish blend of beautiful aesthetics and ergonomic design, this matcha katakuchi is specially handcrafted to create an all-in-one matcha-brewing device for modern-day matchaeologists. The bowl features heat-resistant borosilicate glass, a visually striking and practical material to showcase the beautiful colour of the matcha as it’s being prepared. Its internal depth and curvature are precisely designed to accommodate the matcha whisking process and prevent splashing to the upper part of the bowl. It features a depression along its sides to provide a natural handhold, and a concave base to ensure your fingers can grip it without slipping as you pour your freshly whisked matcha with one hand into your favourite serving cup. Unlike a traditional chawan bowl, whose ceramic surface can easily wear away the tip of your chasen bamboo whisk, this preparation bowl features a glass surface that is whisk-friendly, providing a more durable long-term solution to your daily matcha making. Perfect for use with our Traditional Chasen.

So I've been using my glass katakuchi bowl for the last couple of weeks, and I have to say it is probably one of the best purchases I have ever made. The bowl itself is incredibly lightweight yet feels extremely sturdy, when whisking matcha the whisk just glides over the glass without any resistance (I noticed my previous stone chawan had some resistance which would wear the whisk down eventually) and the fact that it's made of pure glass means I can actually see the colour of the matcha while I'm brewing it. I also absolutely love the way they've added the handhold around the middle - it makes it incredibly easy to pour the matcha one-handed into a smaller cup for drinking, and the whole bowl just looks absolutely beautiful.
All in all, I don't think I have ever seen such a beautiful chawan before - it's definitely made brewing matcha a lot easier and I'd recommend it to any and all matcha enthusiasts! :)
It's beautiful and the perfect size to make more than one serving of matcha. I'll get so much use out of this!! Super happy :-)
Matchaeologist has made the perfect bowl in which to prepare and serve fine matcha. The size is perfectly proportioned for mixing one or two servings. The delicate and smooth glass surface of this Katakutchi bowl allows for complete mixing and frothing (especially with their full-hand Chasan which I also highly recommend) of the cerimonial matcha. I love this beautiful bowl. It adds to the pleasure of preparing and serving the finest matcha
If you are a keen matcha drinker this will really add another level to your matcha ritual :) I've struggled in the past when making matcha for several dinner guests, or participants in one of my cooking workshops (where I serve matcha as a welcome drink). Previously, I had to make each serving individually which is of course lovely, but very time consuming and we can't enjoy the matcha all together! With the Katakuchi serving bowl I can whisk up enough matcha for a few people at a time, and everyone gets to enjoy the bright green colour through the glass. The large whisk works perfectly here and as it is glass the brush won't wear out as fast as it does with a ceramic bowl. A little pricey but well worth it if you are a matcha enthusiast, and you are getting a top notch quality item.
We absolutely love this bowl.
I'm not an expert at making matcha and this serving bowl allowed me to make the perfect matcha for 2! The fact that is large and made of glass ( super smooth) help dissolve the matcha powder properly and is so so beautiful and elegant for serving!
