Matsu™ Ceremonial Matcha 20g

£18.00 GBP

Intense with a Mellow Roasted Flavour
Our signature ceremonial-grade matcha is artisan roasted to produce a rich, creamy body and smooth mouthfeel not unlike a perfectly brewed espresso
Boasting the deepest shade of green reminiscent of Japanese pine trees, Matsu is characterised by its captivating roasted aromas brought to the fore by our artisanal roasting technique handed down through generations of matcha sommeliers. The result is a deeply rich and complex symphony of flavours, with notes of 'umami' and savoury-sweet undertones that round out the intensity of the roast, culminating in an exquisite blend with a full body and long, creamy finish.

Place 1/2 tsp (approx. 2 bamboo scoops) of matcha (~1g) in matcha bowl, then wet with 15ml (0.5fl oz) of 70ºC/160ºF water. Thoroughly knead mixture using bamboo whisk until smooth paste forms. Add 70ml (2.4fl oz) of remaining water and mix until consistent.
Upon sipping, roll the liquid around the palate to appreciate the full flavour anatomy of the tea.
- Store in a cool dry place, away from moisture, sunlight, and odours
- Refrigerate after opening for maximum flavour and potency

A favorite of mine ✨

I didn’t think I’d like it before I bought it, cause I don’t like green tea with at smoky/roasted flavor. But it really surprised me with a very unique flavor - very rounded and smooth with a bit of a fresh aftertaste. It might be my new favorite.

Thank you for your kind feedback, Louise! We are very pleased to hear that you enjoy our Matsu™ Ceremonial Matcha – this totally made our day! We really appreciate your support and will continue to work hard to ensure we deliver the best quality products and customer service. We look forward to serving you again! – Matchaeologist Team

First Ever Ceremonial Matcha; Flavorful and Roast like; Great to drink

Ordered Matsu as my first ever ceremonial grade Matcha, and just finished it after having it for about a month. Kept the tin can closed and inside a ziplock bag within my fridge when not in use in order to preserve the flavor.

Was pleasant to drink and was as described on product description: Umami and mellow roasted as described along with savory undertones; no bitterness at all was observed. Used for Usucha and Matcha Latte. Grateful to have used this Matcha as my first ceremonial grade! And I look forward to ordering the others from Matchaeologist.

One word of caution I will give is in regards to the tin can this matcha is meant to be placed in. Be sure to not force the tin lid onto the body of the can so as to force it closed. I did this early on, which ended up with extreme difficulty in opening the can for the latter half of the month. I had to pry the lid open with a spoon towards the end uses (which should not be happening). This detracted from the user experience significantly. Definitely not the company's fault, and rather was a user error on my part. I have since then ordered a Misaki can and have been careful when closing the tin can, making sure to "catch" the grooves rather than force the lid upon the body.

Hope this helps! Included are pictures of my last drink from this Matsu Matcha using their glass Chawan and Katakuchi serving Bowl products.

Best,
Kevin

Robust and delicious

I bought all three ceremonial matchas and couldn't make up my mind which I liked best. After testing, I have to say the Matsu is my favourite for flat whites now. It's got a wonderfully rich, slightly "meaty," better-than-chocolate aroma when I open the tin and it isn't diminished by adding milk. I'd love to be able to buy it in larger tins. (The chocolate comment is because matcha smells to me like chocolate should but never does, if that makes sense.)

We’re so grateful for your review of our Matsu™ Ceremonial Matcha, Karen! Thank you for taking the time to share your kind feedback with us. Please do not hesitate to get in touch in case there’s anything else at all we can do to assist you further! We look forward to serving you again! – Matchaeologist Team

Beautiful High Grade Matcha

Such great quality matcha powder, such a vivid green colour with no bitterness at all. I have tried this matcha a few ways, plain just with a small amount of water as a shot which is great. It's so great with milk as a matcha flat white or a matcha latte, the steamed milk definitely accentuates the creaminess of the tea. Another awesome way I had this was as a nitro matcha, I infused it with nitrogen with a NitroPress dispenser which has a stout faucet and wow it's amazing and so creamy with no milk at all. Definitely recommend this matcha to anyone. It is pricey but, it's so worth it.

Thank you for your kind feedback, Dane! We are very pleased to hear that you enjoy our Matsu™ Ceremonial Matcha in different ways – this totally made our day! Thank you so much for sharing with us the beautiful photos of the nitro matcha with our Matsu™ grade! Authentically Uji Matcha, Beautiful Fragrance

This Matsu matcha reminds me of the matcha I had when I was studying Chanouyu (Tea Ceremony) in Kyoto. Very beautiful, pine-green color, very umami, almost no trace of bitterness, and very very fragrant. I think it's probably one of the most aromatic matcha I've ever had in my life. Totally recommended especially if you're a coffee or matcha lover.
